Book’s Description
"An African Mystery of Power, Greed, and the Fight for Truth" When a Harvard-trained Nigerian journalist loses his job in Florida during the pandemic, he returns home—only to stumble into a conspiracy more intoxicating than the product that fuels it.
High on the mist-wrapped ridges of the Mambila Plateau, the multinational Montala Beverages funds elegant scientific conferences, generous research grants, and glowing media reports celebrating its wildly popular herbal drink.
But beneath the polished surface of progress lies a darker brew, one steeped in manipulation, concealed addiction, and the quiet, systematic silencing of truth.
Commissioned by Eagle Eyes International, journalist Kabir Lingo joins forces with Abuja reporter Peter Nwosu, field investigator Alasan Bagina, and an embedded insider, Mariam Audu, whose modest restaurant sits inside Montala’s guarded compound.
Together, they unravel coded data trails, falsified research, and moral compromises that point to a single, devastating revelation: science itself can be purchased, and truth can be stolen. As Kabir closes in, he learns that exposing the truth isn’t the hardest part—protecting it is.
Mambila Mirage: How Science Was Bought is an African story told with the pulse of modern journalism and the emotional depth of Afrocentric fiction.
A gripping, character-driven narrative, it delivers an investigative Nigerian thriller of conspiracy, corruption, and courage, revealing how honesty can survive—even flourish—in a world built on convenient lies.
